Terms of Court and General Information
- Terms begin on the second Tuesday of January, April, July and October.
- Grand Juries convene on the first day of Term and fourth Tuesday of January, April, July and October.
- Misdemeanor Appeals Day (misdemeanor and traffic appeals) is set the day following Term Day. .
- All proceedings shall commence at 9:00 a.m., unless the presiding judge shall designate some other hour.
- All criminal cases are scheduled with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.
- All civil cases are set by agreement of counsel and consent of court. Contact the assigned Judge's Secretary to schedule all civil cases, including civil and juvenile appeals. To determine which judge was assigned to the case(s), contact the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
- Court Reporters are provided for all criminal cases. The party or parties desiring the services of a court reporter for a civil matter shall be responsible for obtaining and compensating the reporter.
- Commissioners are utilized at the request of Counsel or by Order of the Court.
- Electronic filing of civil cases is available 24/7 but will be processed during normal business hours.
- Online payment of criminal fines and costs can be made 24/7 but will be processed during normal business hours.
- Recordation of deeds and other land recording is available, in person, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Electronic recording is available 24/7 but will be processed during normal business hours.
